the barbershops are the classic "borthel" business in Shanghai. some month ago you will be able to find small shops in every street. they pretend to be haircut shops, but finally you will not find any scissors there. normaly this is the service only the poor local chinese men can afford. very often you could find some shops together in a cluster, than some of them offer special events like uniform or gothic days, where all the girls in one shop are dressed in a special style. most of this shops have been closed in the month before the expo. some still survived, but they are not easy to find, before the clear identification mark (red light insight, turning cylinder in front of the dore) helped you to find it easy, now the less barbershops still open will not have red light insight any more. also the way to get customer insight is very hidden now. before they will come out, if you pass by, now the girls will not come out of shop any more. the service normaly is short time, only 5 or 10 minutes, but also cheap.

tip: very often, the girl you select will go with you to the massage room, than more and more girls will try to join, so at the end you can have 5 or more girls around, the service will not be better, but the price will be much higher, because you have to pay for every girl, so better send the girls away.

The price is low, the service quality is also low. You can get a short time (3 to 10 minutes service) without any extras. Not more! So if you look for quality, better don`t visit a Barbershop.

lol - I have gotten used to walking into places and saying this. No one will judge you...they know. Even if it's the wrong place...they'll just say "no sex here".

Sometimes it's fun to throw the phrase out in places that are legit...shoe store...McDonalds...starbucks...you never know who is working there that needs extra money.

It's actually pretty easy to tell, because normal barbershops / hairdressers usually have more men than women doing the hairdressing. If you see a barbershop with a bunch of girls sitting around inside doing nothing and no men then you're in.
